Acrylic on Canvas
I pay homage to my “Elder Brothers,” the (MOHAWK); Keepers of the Eastern Door, depicted by the sun. My father, Kenny, (Onoya:aka) was an ironworker with several (MOHAWK) comrades, working alongside them in building Montreal and repairing bridges.
Painting the old Samuel du Champlain Bridge reminded me of the history of the city, province, and country. Representing our Confederacy’s nation-builders is a privilege. I honour my lake?nih’k^ who strode across those beams in work boots.
Anishnabeg Outreach
My offering to the self-identifying indigenous community associated with Anishnabeg Outreach is to demonstrate various acrylic painting ideas and techniques in my bi-weekly sessions. The Paint nights have been such healing and grounding work for me as the instructor. Participants range in all ages and skill levels.

What We Are
SEEDS for Change is a collaborative initiative of Black, Indigenous and People of Color with no borders from all walks of life founded by Dr. Clelia O. Rodriguez. The collaborations in this space are based on Indigenous ancestral knowledge through notions of reciprocity and not in relation to Western notions of networking. Our ways of conducting work ensures that those who choose to join understand this is space is not for the likes or to fulfill agendas based on neoliberal and colonialist extractivism. This political pedagogical work is in alignment with decolonizing approaches to share transformative learning and teaching lessons beyond the binary. Our martners offer seeds that in this space are protected.
